The contributions are listed in chronological order from most recent to the oldest:

1. A fault indicator for SmartGrid overhead medium voltage (MV) power distribution networks

Authors: Vidrgar M., Golob S., Bogataj M. Vir: Proceedings on 19. International Electrotechnical and Computer Science Conference, Portorož 20.-22.Sept. 2010.

Abstract

The paper presents an updated version of a fault indicator used for detecting an earth fault, short circuit and voltage fault in direct/resistor earthed, isolated or compensated with e.g. a Petersen coil overhead medium voltage distribution networks. The indicator has been designed for integration into SmartGrid middle voltage distribution networks, therefore it incorporates the characteristics such as remote management, control and automation in combination with disconnectors.
First, a mathematical model was developed to help with the construction of the first prototype. Next the software was written that enabled testing and calibration of the prototype on a test site constructed for this purpose. The results were consistent with the given mathematical model. The design process, principles of operation, new extended functionality, and calibration of the
fault indicator are briefly described in the rest of the paper.

2. Radar speed displays and their effect on speed behavior of drivers

Authors: Krznarič K., Dernič P.,  Jarc A., Perko K., Valič M.I. Source: 18th International Symposium on electronics and transportation systems (ISEP 2010).

Abstract
In the contribution a brief review of radar speed detection, radar speed displays and their presumed effects on traffic calming is presented. In the wider area of Ljubljana quite a few of these systems are model MHP50 produced by Sipronika d.o.o. In this study an attempt was made to evaluate the effectiveness of these installations by using only the data a standard commercial unit provides. To achieve the goal, several week-long measurements were made on two locations with different traffic flow characteristics and speed limits imposed. The measurements were carried out with speed displays operating (visible, ON) and speed displays non-operating (covered, OFF). From a limited choice of available measured and stored parameters, a detailed analysis of the data available lead to some positive conclusions regarding the effectiveness of these devices for speed calming in urban traffic. The work is a partial results of the research project "REMSIS" co-founded by EU incentive EUREKA and supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of R Slovenia.

3. Efficient sampling for the evaluation protocol for 2-D rigid registration

Authors: Jarc A., Perš J., Rogelj P., Kovačič S. Source: Infromacije MIDEM 39(2009)1, Ljubljana

Abstract

In our research we aim to reduce the computation time spent on the evaluation protocol of a criterion function for rigid registration tasks. For this reason we compared four sampling methods which affect density and distribution of sampling points of a K-dimension transformation space. We compared the following sampling methods: basic regular sampling, pseudo-random, Sobol quasi-random and Halton quasi-random sampling. We show that the use of Halton quasi-random generator yielded the most uniform distribution of sampling lines. Thus, with proper sampling method, the number of sampling lines can be systematically reduced in comparison to pseudo-randomly generated lines. This would result in shorter computation time spent on the evaluation protocol.

4. A multi-stage registration method using texture features

Authors: Jarc A., Perš J., Kovačič S. Source: Journal of Digital imaging, online 30/01/2009, Springer Verlag

 Abstract

We present a novel, multi-stage registration method based on Laws' texture features. In general, a large number of texture features may be extracted from the original intensity images. The proposed registration method consists of two major steps. In the first step, a data set of images with the corresponding gold standard is used. In this step, the selection and ranking of the texture features for registration is made. The selection and ranking of the features is based on their robustness, accuracy and capture range.
The selected features are then entered in the second step, where the actual registration is performed using a sequence of registration stages. We tested our method on 2D image pairs containing Digital Reconstructed Radiographs (DRR) and Electron Portal Imaging (EPI) modalities, which were difficult to register using intensity features alone.

5. Remote wireless control and supervision of radar speed displays and intelligent traffic signs

Authors: Perko K., Tekavec T., Golob S., Jarc J. Source: 14th International Symposium on electronics and transportation systems (ISEP 2006).

Abstract

The paper presents speed indicator displays, intelligent traffic signs, and traffic counters with wireless-communication capability (via the GSM/GPRS network). It describes the possibilities and advantages of these devices, such as remote parameter-setting, real-time supervision and control of operation, remote access to the data stored, enabling the operator to respond quickly in every traffic situation.
