General description

Electric utilities are facing new demands and needs of the market for reliable supply of electricity. On the other hand, they are faced with increasing competition and the requirements for profitable operations. In order to harmonize these conflicting requirements clever investment policies are necessary, yielding effects in terms of increasing the reliability in operation of power networks while reducing costs.

Sipronika offers solutions for automation of medium-voltage network systems which fully follow this philosophy. Our products and their integration into a complex system provide the expected effects in the following segments:

Shortening the outage time and extent:

  • Using fault indicators, the time needed for locating fault sites is significantly reduced.
  • The local operation performs an automatic switch off of a defected sector.
  • The remotely controlled switches enable rapid re-configuration of the network and power supply restoration as far as possible until defect elimination.

Lower operating costs:

  • Faster reaction in case of failure.
  • Faster location and restoration of defected sectors.
  • A shorter outage time.
  • Lower labour costs with lower number of interventions needed, a smaller on-site team locates and eliminates the damage in shorter time.
  • Lower costs of undelivered energy.

System integration flexibility:

  • The modular design of the system, which can be built gradually.
  • Upgrade in line with development and investment plans and new requirements of the customers.
  • Flexibility in relation to the expected effect. In some cases, a detection of fault current passage is sufficient; however, in more demanding environments, a prompt isolation of a defected sector is necessary.

Products for distribution automation

Fault indicators:

  • LOK 20 : for overhead lines, light signalization of the detected failure.
  • LOK 30-GSM : for overhead lines, remote signalling of detected fault via GSM network (SMS message into the control centre) and light signalization.
  • KI 20 : for cable or overhead lines, equipped with motor controlled switch gears. It may also be used as an independent device with light signalling fault indication on cable lines.

Controller - Remote Terminal Unit:

  • TN 10: for remote operation and control of switch gears, data transfer via GSM/GPRS/UMTS/HSDPA, TETRA, radio or Ethernet , using the DNP 3.0. communication protocol.

Control Boxes:

  • SCB : for switch gears in overhead lines.
  • In cable networks for one or more switch gears.

Communication and control platform:

  • Communication concentrator - gateway, protocol converter.
  • SCADA.
  • Display, processing and archive of the stored data.
